Lunch at Sylvia's and Church Gospel Music
Due to its literary history, Harlem is arguably the most famous misunderstood neighborhood in the country. It is living its second "Renaissance" these days (the first was in the 1920's when jazz, literature, and art flourished). It is attracting new residents from all economic and ethnic backgrounds. This bus and walking tour takes us through charming tree lined streets of Sugar Hill, the elegant enclave of turn-of-the-century mansions so reminiscent of Harlem's "Golden Age". We'll also see the historic Apollo Theatre, Alexander Hamilton's summer home, Striver's Row, and perhaps a few of the famous Franco murals along 125th street, before attending a church service and enjoying soul stirring music. During our tour we'll have lunch at the world famous Sylvia's Restaurant.
