Erie Canal and The Finger Lakes

Water, water everywhere! Cruise the waterways of New York featuring the beautiful Finger Lakes region and the Erie Canal. Join us for a castle, a vineyard, gardens, two lakes, a river and more in New York's prestigious wine country!

Day 1 - Erie Canal (L, D) - Arrive in the beautiful Finger Lakes region for lunch overlooking the Erie Canal and Mohawk River. Embark on a cruise through the historic Erie Canal and river valley, including the famous Lock 18, one of the last remaining locks. Your ship will be raised and lowered in a "liquid elevator", on equipment dating back 100 years. Experience 19th century transportation and learn how canal locks changed the world. Spend the evening at the New York Kitchen, a state-of-the-art facility showcasing wine and food delicacies of the region. Savor a three-course dinner served in the chef's amphitheater. The chef will share the Kitchen's recipe for their signature house vinaigrette, while teaching you how to make it! During dinner, watch as the chef prepares dessert right in front of you! After your exciting first day, check into the Fairfield Inn & Suites Geneva, your home for the next two nights.

Day 2 - Finger Lakes (B, D) - Today, explore the lakes region, including a guided tour of the historic, picturesque towns of Geneva and Seneca Lake. Travel the winding back roads along the lake shores painted with the colors of autumn. Wander the village of Watkins Glenn with time for shopping and lunch on your own. Hit the water for a narrated, sightseeing cruise on the calm waters of Seneca Lake. Relax with a tasting at Lakewood Vineyards, with rolling meadows and beautiful lake views. The day's finale is a dinner at Belhurst Castle, a century-old Gothic and Tudor style castle. Experience turn of the century ambience during a three-course dinner served in the old-world dining room, overlooking Seneca Lake.

Day 3 - Corning Glass (B, L) - Finish your trip with a guided tour of the fascinating Corning Museum of Glass. Explore 35 centuries of glassmaking through a live glass blowing demonstration and more than 45,000 objectsfrom a tiny glass portrait of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh to Tiffany masterpieces. Enjoy lunch at the Museum before heading home.
