The 9/11 Memorial Museum

New York City

The 9/11 Memorial Museum, which opened in May 2014 honors the fallen and the heroes, and embraces hope and rebirth. The museum contains artifacts such as the steel tridents that anchored the Towers and the last steel column removed from the site after a nine-month cleanup. You will also see the Vesey Street stair remnant, the historic "Survivors' Stairs." On 9/11, hundreds escaped with their lives, fleeing down this stairway. The historical exhibition tells the story of what happened on 9/11, including the events at the World Trade Center and the Pentagon and the story of Flight 93. The museum also explores the background leading up to the events and examines their aftermath and continuing implications. You'll see artifacts and photographs along with audio and video tapes, personal effects, and expressions of tribute and remembrance. We'll have lunch at Le Rivage Restaurant before the 9/11 Museum.
